JUDGE KP GEORGE ANNOUNCES PROGRAM FOR PPE DONATIONS FOR COVID-19
Fort Bend County, TX- County Judge KP George announced Monday guidelines for a program to coordinate donations of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) with the most needed recipients to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus. The purpose of the Fort Bend program is streamline the donation processes and ensure needed supplies get to the appropriate entities in a timely and orderly manner.
“There is a great need for PPE for our medical community, first responders and health providers because of the worldwide shortage of these items,” said Judge George. “I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of generosity by individuals and businesses from every background who have been literally dropping off PPE at my office door. Now we have a structure in place to take in more donations and get it distributed quickly. We are still very actively fighting COVID-19 and need to act quickly to stop the spread.”
Information for donors: County officials will be coordinating time and place for donors to drop off items. To schedule a donation, please email FBC.Judge@FortBendCountyTx.gov and an official will respond quickly with specific and convenient logistics.
Donated items should be new, in the original packaging and FDA approved.
The most requested PPE are N95 rated masks, face shields, disposable surgical masks, all sizes of disposable gloves, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, disposable gowns and generic medical supplies. (The county will adjust the list of quested items as supply and demand change.)
The county will be distributing the PPE donations in this order: Hospitals and health care facilities; First Responders (EMS, Fire Departments, Law Enforcement Agencies); public offices; and Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters (VOADs).
